Catty Wagon

Michelson Found Animals Foundation’s Adopt & Shop have hit the streets with their Catty Wagon inspired by mobile food trucks.

Michelson Found Animals Foundation is a non-profit, independently funded organisation which is working towards making Los Angeles a no-kill city – a city in which no animals are killed if they cannot be adopted. They have set up a food truck like vehicle which has adoptable cats inside, making it possible for thousands of shelter cats to find their forever home.

The Catty Wagon has been custom built just for felines, it has six individual condos where the kitties are comfortably housed, a place where cat products are sold (all profits go to the organisation) and two meet and greet rooms for people to have the chance to spend time with their new family member. From the outside of the truck, you can see the adorable cats and kittens through windows as they look out into the world. The truck itself also has cat ears, whiskers and a tail so it is impossible to miss while driving down the road.  This could possibly be the cutest vehicle ever to hit the roads.

The cats inside are waiting for their new loving homes which they can live in forever without risk of them being given up again, the truck aims to not only educate people on the importance of adopting pets and what giving them up does but also brings the cats to the consumers rather than the other way around, which may encourage them to adopt.

More cats than dogs are euthanised every year due to not being fostered, all over the world and the Catty Wagon hopes to bring an end to these unnecessary deaths starting in Los Angeles. Found Animals also have  non-movable, brick shops called Adopt & Shop, and every single penny brought in by these stores goes right back to the animals they are trying to save.

The Catty Wagon is the first of its kind, seen as a creative and innovative idea to bring adoption to the people rather than the people to adoption. Michelson Found Animals Foundation have been saving pets for a decade and have constantly tried new and different ways to help animals.  Their unique approach to animal welfare has allowed them to help pets, pet owners and professionals. They have free microchip registry allowing lost pets to be reunited with their owners, and new spay and neuter technology which makes it easier and safer for pets to be adopted.

Each of the cats on the Catty Wagon will have been vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped. For new adopters or first-time cat owners, there will also be a collection of starter supplies available to buy from the Catty Wagon – and you can be sure the money goes towards helping, even more, animals. You can find out more information on their website.

This is a really cute and innovative idea which brings a bit of fun and happiness to the sad reality of shelter cats and adoption. Fostering a cat benefits both the adopters and the cat in so many ways and hopefully, the Catty Wagon idea will catch on everywhere to make adoption easier.
