‘Saddest cat in the world’ finally finds a home

The ‘saddest cat in the world’ has finally been adopted, just check out how much happier he looks now.

Finally, some good news to come from 2016 after all the trauma and heartache which has come from the year. Benjamin Button, or BenBen for short, was described as the ‘saddest cat in the world’ and even adopted this name for his own Instagram and Twitter bios.

The ginger tomcat arrived into a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), he was a stray who had deep cuts all over his body, a crushed spine and a cauliflower ear, leading for people to assume he had been attacked by another animal.

All the excess skin on his face meant he permanently looked sad, with a drooping mouth and upset looking eyes. To make things even worse, a family apparently adopted him and then returned him soon after because they couldn’t deal with his medical conditions. After that, the shelter deemed him to be ‘unadoptable’ and BenBen was set to be euthanised. The picture below you see him waiting for his unfair and devastating fate, to be euthanised.

Thankfully, a lovely lady had seen BenBen advertised on the charity’s website and fell in love with him. Her partner and herself managed to sort out all the paperwork for his adoption just one day before he was meant to be put down. They then took BenBen home to safety. The vets had said that BenBen was not in very good shape, he would not eat or drink and because of his spine injury, he would never walk again. But thanks to all the love and support from his new family, he made an absolutely amazing recovery, which goes to show what a little bit of patience and hope can really do.

On moving into his new home BenBen was quite unresponsive and, well, sad. His new owners looked after him and paid him lots of attention. Once BenBen started to feel safe he began to be more curious about his surroundings, purred a lot and loved cuddles. It’s like he knew he had just found his forever home.

And guess what? He can now walk, jump and run. BenBen is an adorable miracle story who, despite still having spinal injuries, meaning he isn’t as flexible as other cats, he is still doing so well. He still has a sad expression on his cute little face, but he has honestly thrived so well.

His personality has developed and he has become a huge part of his owner’s lives, he makes them laugh and they love him very much. Always give animals a chance because, as shown with BenBen, they  can recover and become a very important part of your life. You can follow BenBen on Instagram here for more cute photos.
