Two-year-old Giselle, a blind munchkin cat,  remains completely positive despite her special needs and tough beginning in life.

Giselle weighs a little over 2.5lbs, the tiny cat arrived at The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, in quite a bad shape. She needed so much help, but despite everything she continues to fight and shares so much love with everybody.

She came into the shelter very confused and scared, her fur was matted and she was in an extremely poor shape. After all the matts in her fur were shaved off (what a relief) they also discovered that she was completely blind, but Giselle was still so happy to be in safe hands.

The little cat is a dwarf munchkin cat, she is two years old and about the size of a two-month-old kitten. Despite her looking adorable Munchkin kittens are very vulnerable to lordosis, which is a rare spinal condition which means the spinal muscles grow shorter and the actual spine will sink into the body. If this is too bad, the kitten will not live. Giselle obviously avoided this, and is still living healthily, it is just something to bare in mind when breeding or adopting a dwarf munchkin cat.

As Giselle was recovering her personality started to come through more, and she showed a great deal of love and positivity. She made such big progress in such a short amount of time, and even started to walk around and navigate (probably using her whiskers) even though she is blind.

Little Giselle was looking for a forever home, where she could begin her new life happily and healthily and, thankfully Giselle posted on Instagram some extremely good news. It stated:

“Although there were literally hundreds of wonderful, kind, amazing homes offered up, we finally narrowed it down to one home where my new mom has had tons of experience with special needs cats and I’ll have a few kitty siblings to hopefully snuggle up with. Even though I love my foster home and I’ll be very missed here, I’m super excited to settle in to my forever home. I’ll be heading home tomorrow night. I’ll be sending updates as well as using this page to help other special shelter animals find homes! Thank you all so much for your kindness and support! This shows the absolute love shown by everybody, who can look past the difficulties of looking after a cat with special needs. Also, a happy ending for Giselle who may not have had one of the happiest starts.
