McGibblets is a short hair, beautiful, adult male cat, his story begins when he was being fed voluntarily whilst he had no home at all. For over two years McGibblets was being fed by Mary who spent the first six months feeding and warming him up so that McGibblets would finally allow her to pick him up and cuddle with him.
Although McGibblets wasn’t allowed in the house, Mary selflessly set up a shelter for him in a camper just outside their property, humorously, it wasn’t enough for the gorgeous cat. He had experienced love and care from Mary and now wanted more, and the once timid and lonely cat took to crying at Mary’s door and begging her for more attention.
From first glance, McGibblets has this adorable chubby head, and beautiful short hair – instantly making people fall in love with him as soon as they come into contact with his gentle nature.
Unfortunately, McGibblets wasn’t the picture of health when he was taken to a shelter, he had to be treated for fleas and amenia which was brought on by a blood parasite caused by his fleas. He also sadly has a painful condition called pododermatitis or ‘Pillow Foot’, for which McGibblets was given a treatment of steroids, antibiotics and a paw soak every single day. Fortunately, the treatment not only helped his poor little, swollen paws but it also made his red blood cell percentage normal. McGibblets also ran into a nasty respiratory virus which was luckily already being fought by all the heavy medication he as on, and so it was minimalised almost instantly.
Despite all his problems and apparent set-backs McGibblets never complained or reacted badly. He was always accepting of the treatment and appreciated all the kindness and compassion he was shown throughout. His positive and happy attitude meant he grew stronger and healthier every single day. Not only that but he also grew fonder and more comfortable around new people and he began thanking people with lap sits and cuddles.
There is not one volunteer at Big Sid’s Sanctuary (where he is currently) who can resist cuddling up with McGibblets, especially when he comes up to them and crawls into their arms; he really does melt everybody hearts. He is the definition of a gentle giant who also enjoys the company of other cats which is a quality a lot of people look for in a cat.
Despite everything McGibblets has been through, he continues to spread happiness and joy to everybody’s life. He brings an important message to anybody who meets him – no matter the trials and tribulations life throws at you, people will always be there to help you and you should always spread happiness and be optimistic. The loving kindness of Mary and the volunteers are the reason McGibblets is looking forward to a more comfortable life and he is still looking for a new home.
